This stunning and simply charming necklace was made in England by the famous Wedgwood company, known for its ceramic production. The pendant was decorated with jasperware, invented around 1775 to resemble ancient cameos and, as you can see, the result is truly incredible! Getting to the result you see today was not easy, it took many attempts and a lot of money, but in the end it was possible to obtain a particularly valuable material: it is a very hard, white and fine, almost translucent paste, whose appearance resembles very porcelain; the color can be mixed with the paste or, according to a cheaper process introduced in 1777, it can be painted on the surface. The jasperware of our pendant has a black base, on which we find a beautiful neoclassical figure of a woman, of which we see the entire figure leaning against a column; the whole scene is white, in perfect contrast so as to stand out fully. The final scene has something gothic, mystical and enigmatic about it. On the back we can find the writing “Wedgwood made in England” engraved. The whole frame is in 9K yellow gold. Along with this pendant, we also find a chain, made entirely of 18K yellow gold and created with a link that looks as if it were made of many small intertwined strings. Vintage. Materials: chain: 9k yellow gold link and 18k yellow gold lobster clasp pendant: 9k yellow gold and jasperware. Dimensions: length when open: 49 cm height: 2,7 cm. Width: 1,3 cm. Weight: chain: 0.9 g, pendant: 1.4 g. Total: 2.3 g. Conditions: excellent condition with normal signs of wear commensurate with the age of the jewel.
