Very rare RAAK ‘Light Sculpture’ table floor lamp in very good condition. The lamp consists of four anodized aluminum tubes, they all have a different shape and can be exchanged among each other in endless combinations. The lamp holds one bulb per per tube, a total of 4 bulbs E27 fitting, max 4 x 60 watt – 110/220 volt. The architect Maurice Grothusen is the spiritual father of this light sculpture. A lamp not intended in the first place to give light, but a lamp as ‘illuminated object’ in the interior. A lamp that shows the hand of the architect, the interest of the sculptor and the eye of the graphic artist. The Dutch company “RAAK Amsterdam” was founded in 1954 by C.O. Lockhorn, a previous employee of Philips Lighting Eindhoven. RAAK, which means “to hit” in Dutch, implies design which precisely “hits the nail on the head”. RAAK Lighting is best known for their organic modern design of the 1970’s which combined glass & metals for a sophisticated futuristic style.
