The Neue Sachlichkeit (new matter of fact-ness) sought to lay bare life and people to the most simple elements which bared their ‘essence’. In this sense it was allied with the Bauhaus and Modernism. Leading artists of this group included George Grosz, Otto Dix, Max Beckmann and Christian Schad.
