Noted Bolivian artist Graciela Rodo Boulanger (b. 1935) is known for her artworks featuring stylized renderings of children. She creates joyful scenes that depict the pleasure of childhood in a childlike way. Her simplistic, graceful lines and lyrical colors lend a spontaneous feel to her artwork.
This piece, entitled “Au Repos” (At Rest), is an original fine art color lithograph on parchment paper. It is hand-signed lower right and numbered LXXV/C lower left in pencil by the artist. The piece is floated on an ivory board and custom framed in an ornate wooden gilt frame, with a golden fillet. The artwork is in excellent condition.
Boulanger was raised in an artistic environment–her mother was a concert pianist and her father was a businessman and art connoisseur, both of whom nurtured her talents. Although Boulanger decided to devote herself to her creative expression through painting, she also worked in many other mediums, including etching, lithography, water color, pastel and sculpture. Her work gained international fame and success since her first one-woman show in Vienna in 1953.
