These gems were designed by Jorge Jabour Mauad and executed by Cantù Móveis e Interiores Ltda. in the 1960s. The structure looks like a perfect cube and is made entirely of Brazilian Rosewood, as known as Jacaranda, with seat/backrests in beige fabric which are quite comfortable. The arms are wider than the rest of the wood structure giving an extra touch to the piece.
The Jacaranda has been refinished and displays colorful veins and besides the marks of age, the armchairs are in excellent condition. The faux leather is in great condition also. Both, comfortable and decorative this set would look incredible in any modern, midcentury modern, or contemporary environment.
This set perfectly represents the Brazilian Modernist movement and the architects hired to design and furnish the new capital Brasilia in 1960. These pieces belonged to Furnas, a regional power utility and major subsidiary of Eletrobras (National Electricity company) that was founded in 1957 and have the patrimony plaque still. So, if you are looking for beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece with history behind, look no further!

The specialists were responsible for conducting studies and projects for interior installations, using Brazilian Rosewood, marbles, leathers, and national fabrics in its manufacture.
About Brazilian rosewood, also called Jacaranda, is perhaps one of the most beautiful woods in the world. It is regarded as one of the finest tone woods; hard, stiff, and highly resonant with a glass-like ring that sustains; it has a floral scent, like roses, thus the name.
