This bookshelf was designed by Joaquim Tenreiro (1906-1992) in the 1960s and produced by the company Tenreiro Arquitetura e Interiores.
The piece is made of solid Rosewood and is attached to the wall in two fixation points, by using a few screws. It has seven shelves, to exbit beautifully books and decoration items.
Tenreiro came to see the often heavy, overstuffed pieces that dominated the market as being incompatible with a tropical country like Brazil. He promoted furniture that was formally light, that he attributed to grace and functionality in space. This piece has a complex construction, with slight thickness differences between its parts and angled diagonals.
The bookshelf is in very good vintage condition and presents a paper stamp by the manufacturer.
