Vintage Design
Large and exquisite blown crystal clear Murano glass dome shape lampshade decorated with spiraling white stripes of using the highly skilled Reticello technique that involves the merging of two glass cane domes (one inside the other) in which the straight canes are twisted in opposite directions. Once merged, the opposing twisted canes cross each other creating a net-like pattern. Manufacturer: Venini, Murano, Italy possibly designed by Scarpa, Massimo Vignelli or Lino Tagliapietra. Venini is one of the most outstanding art glass companies on the Venetian island of Murano. None of their lamps are identical and are all handmade / blown. The lamp is hanging from a brass ring on a steel wire, leading to a brass canopy. Outstanding design detail is that the perforations in the brass ring allow different hanging positions of the shade from downwards (as it is now) to sideways for more sculptural impact. The chosen position is then fixed permanently by a steel cable. Dimensions Shade; Height 40 cm, Diameter 44 cm Total Height hanging; 80 cm.
